In an interview with Bill Clinton following the 2013 CGI Annual Meeting, the former President spoke of the need for Japan to better facilitate more women joining the country’s workforce “in the same percentage men are”, as well as the benefits to the economy that would result from pay equity between men and women.

Founded in 2005 by former US President, Bill Clinton, the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) convenes global leaders “to create and implement innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges”. CGI Annual Meetings typically bring together well over 100 heads of state, multiple Nobel Prize laureates, hundreds of top CEOs, heads of foundations and NGOs, renowned philanthropists, and members of the media, with an aim to maximize their efforts to create positive change.
